Congratulations to our winners and to the Ball Committee for putting together a fantastic Show Ball. With numbers of up to 170 people, a great band, delicious meal, beautiful ladies and handsome men, it was a night to be remembered for many. A big thank you to all our sponsors, helpers, guests and contestants for making the 2009 Show Ball the success that it was.
The 2009 Show Ball was a resounding success with over 160 people dancing the night away to the sounds of Triple Beat. New organisers, new format equaled success! A special night to remember after the disaster of last month.
Congratulations to all entrants in our Show Girl competitions and to the winners of each category and a big thankyou to all attendees for making the night such a wonderful success. Special thanks to all of our helpers on the night and leading up to the event and of course the wonderful Ladies who catered once again for us.
A big vote of thanks to the organisers Bruce Vayro and Lyndell West. This was Bruce and Lyndell's first year as the main committee organisers and they have surely booked a return performance for next year.
The schedule of horse classes for the 2009 Laidley Show is now available for download. Please check which day your events will be on. If you would like to book a stable please complete and post or fax the stable booking form. Remember stables and yards are limited so book early to avoid dissapointment.
Schedules are available by clicking on the link in the box on the left of this page or under the download section. See you there July 11th & 12th.
By now a lot of you would have heard that the grandstand at the showgrounds has caught fire and burnt down in the early hours of Monday morning.
This is a tremendous blow to the Society with everything in the offices, kitchen and storage room completely lost including the ribbons for the 2009 show, trophies, records, furniture, stoves, fridges, freezers and their contents, office equipment. The list goes on.
The building was insured and hopefully everything will be able to be replaced. The committee will be meeting shortly to decide the future but President Don West is hopeful that the 2009 Show will happen on July 11th and 12th. No other buildings were damaged so hopefully a portable office will be able to be set up onsite to continue show preperations.
The Society will certainly need everyone's support through this disaster, so keep your plans to be part of what will be a very special 2009 Laidley Show.
